Description

Riga EcoHack: Igniting Circular Sustainability is an urban environment hackathon which for the 3rd year invites you to look at Riga from a different point of view and participate in shaping its future in cooperation with Riga municipality and DINEX. See our Challenge Landscape.

Who can join

The project aims to combine the vision of residents and students to participate in the development of business ideas and solutions that would positively affect the use of resources and waste management in Riga. You can sign up for a hackathon individually or as a team (4 to 5 participants).

How it works

  • Step 1 - Register.
  • Step 2 - Receive more info in email.
  • Step 3 - Participate in webinar ”Hackathon hacks: success strategies and best practices” on October 25. Get a copy of the training presentation.
  • Step 4 - Get to event venue and attend hackathon opening to hear challenges from our partners.
  • Step 5 - Attend workshops and meet with mentors that will help you develop you idea into prototype.
  • Step 6 - Participate in the extra activities and have fun.
  • Step 7 - Present your work in front of jury.
  • Step 8 - Get prizes for the awesome work you have done.

What should I bring?

A laptop, charger and a water bottle to stay hydrated, everything else we will take care of.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is best described as an “invention marathon”. Anyone who has an interest in technology attends a hackathon to learn, build & share their creations over the course of a weekend in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Who can apply?

It is open to any university student and professionals regardless of skills and background. We are beginner-friendly - all you need is the willingness to learn!

What are the challenges?

Challenge description is available and challenge owners will present them at the beginning of hackathon.

What if I don't have a team?

Not to worry - we will have a team building activities to help you find a suitable team. They will happen at the event on the first day of the event.

What is the end result?

The goal is to encourage learning new skills and creating innovative ideas that would positively affect the use of resources and waste management in Riga. And we hope to see new idea realisation in Riga municipality.
